Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any prior experience?
Not at all! We start from absolute zero on day one — pronunciation, foundations, everything. No experience required to enroll.
Do I have to attend at a set time?
Nope. All lessons are pre-recorded, so you can watch whenever and wherever you want — completely at your own pace.
How much time do I need each day?
Just 15 minutes a day. We suggest two videos a week, so you can finish in about three months — but you can adjust to your own pace.
Can I rewatch the lessons?
Absolutely! Once you enroll, you get lifetime unlimited access — watch as many times as you like.
How does the personal feedback work?
Submit your worksheets and short voice recordings of your speaking practice. Teacher Amy personally reviews them and sends you tailored feedback on your tones and sentences.
Will I learn traditional or simplified characters?
The course currently uses traditional characters, as used in Taiwan. A simplified-character version is coming soon.
Pinyin is used as a support at the beginning — like training wheels on a bike. As the course goes on, we gradually remove the pinyin, so you learn to read the Chinese characters themselves. Each lesson shows you how characters are built from meaningful components and radicals, and plenty of varied practice exercises help you get familiar with characters and recognise them quickly. Where words differ by region, we teach both (for example, 捷運 in Taiwan and 地鐵 elsewhere for the metro).
Can I learn on my phone or tablet?
Yes. Just log in to your account in any web browser — on your phone, tablet or computer. Worksheets come as PDFs, so you can print them or fill them in on screen.
What do I do if I get stuck or have a question?
You're not learning alone. Send your question to Teacher Amy along with your worksheet or recording, or email amylinwenlin@gmail.com. You can also rewatch any lesson as often as you need.
Will I receive a certificate upon completion?
Yes! After finishing the course, you'll receive an official certificate of completion issued by LinWay Languages.
